Careers education is delivered at all stages to ensure that pupils are sufficiently informed to make confident decisions about their education and career.

Key Stage 3
Commencing with Year 8 in 2005-06, a coordinated sequence of activity based lessons on Employability. Pupils will learn the basic concepts of Personal Career Planning, Entrepreneurship and the Local and Global Economy.

Key Stage 4
The Personal Career Planning module of the GCSE Learning for for Life and Work programme is untaken as a series of active lessons in conjunction with a action based project.

Sixth Form
All pupils undertake a programme which involves guidance interviews, work placement, mock interviews, university visits and talks from visiting speakers. Particular attention is paid to the online process for university application, with all pupils receiving detailed instruction and assistance.

Resources
We have our own microsite thecareersroom.com. Pupils at all stages are able to download essential resources and undertake careers research from the site.
The school careers room contains a wide range of printed and multimedia resources along with a networked computer.

The department maintains links with numerous institutions and agencies including universities, NI Careers Service, Sentinus, Ballymena Business Education Partnership and the Charter Work Experience programme.

Year 12 and 13 pupils visit major careers conventions which are attended by universities, employers and relevant agencies.
