Junior Debating Club Visits Stormont
The Junior Debating Society recently visited the Parliament Buildings at Stormont where they were given a guided tour and spoke to party representatives.
Over the course of the morning, pupils were treated to a presentation about the dynamics of the Stormont Assembly and during the tour they were informed of a range of historical facts about the impressive building.
They were fortunate enough to be able to attend a discussion in the committee room, chaired by Anna Lo, on the possibility of new driving age legislation in Northern Ireland.
Jim Wells, Health Minister, gave pupils an insight into the responsibilities and challenges he faces on a daily basis.
Finally, perhaps the most exciting part, pupils were given the rare opportunity of holding their own debate in the Assembly chamber. Their passion and professionalism was clear and their tour guide was most impressed with their impromptu debate.
