Year 14 Art Trip

24 Oct 2017

On Thursday 12th October, Mrs McAuley and the Year 14 Art & Design class attended an exhibition at Antrim Castle Gardens. The exhibition was entitled ‘Coastlines, Country and Creatures’ and was created by Louise O’Donnell a past pupil of St Louis Grammar School. The exhibition was in support of Action Mental Health and showcased work created by Louise during a period of time when she herself struggled with mental health issues. We felt it was important to show our support for her exhibition as this is such an important topic which affects many young people our age and can hugely effect so many people in our society.

During our visit we also experienced the work of university students which was being exhibited in a neighbouring gallery. As A-Level students we were able to take inspiration from both exhibitions and incorporate our findings into our own coursework. This was a very valuable trip on so many levels and we benefited greatly from it. Living in Northern Ireland it is not always possible to experience the work of artists first hand so our thanks to Mrs McAuley for taking the time to take us on the trip.
